How the points system works
Understanding how customers earn points, what the balance means, and how it connects to tiers.
Clubhouse awards points automatically when a Shopify order is marked as paid. The number of points awarded is calculated from the order value and the points rate you've configured.
Earning points
By default, customers earn 1 point per 1 DKK spent. You can change this rate in Settings → Rules. For example, a 200 DKK order would award 200 points.
Points are awarded on the order total
Points are calculated from the order subtotal (before shipping and discounts by default). You can configure this in Settings → Rules.
Points balance vs. lifetime points
Clubhouse tracks two distinct numbers for each customer:
| Property | What it means | Used for |
|---|---|---|
| Points balance | Current redeemable points. Goes down when a reward is redeemed. | Rewards redemption |
| Lifetime points | Total points ever earned. Never decreases — not affected by redemptions. | Tier qualification |
This separation ensures that a customer who redeems a reward doesn't drop to a lower tier. Their loyalty (lifetime points) and their current balance are tracked independently.
Points expiry
By default, points never expire. You can set an expiry policy in Settings → Rules if you want points to expire after a period of inactivity.
Viewing a customer's points
In the Clubhouse dashboard, go to Members and search for the customer by name or email. Click on a member to see their full history: points balance, lifetime points, tier, and all orders.
