Klaviyo integration overview
How Clubhouse integrates with Klaviyo and what data flows between them.
Clubhouse integrates with Klaviyo in both directions: it writes loyalty data to your customers' Klaviyo profiles for use in flows, segments, and campaigns — and it reads a couple of specific things back from Klaviyo to power loyalty rules you've opted into.
Writing to Klaviyo
This is the core of the integration — it happens on every order, in real time:
- A customer places an order in your Shopify store.
- The order is paid and Shopify sends a webhook to Clubhouse.
- Clubhouse awards points and calculates the customer's tier.
- Clubhouse finds or creates the customer's profile in Klaviyo (matched by email).
- Clubhouse updates the custom properties on the Klaviyo profile.
- The data is available immediately for use in Klaviyo flows and segments.
Reading from Klaviyo
If you've enabled certain loyalty rules, Clubhouse also reads a couple of specific things back from Klaviyo, via a daily scheduled job (not in real time):
- Birthday points enabled: reads each profile's birthday property (if one exists) to award birthday points — a customer's own manual entry always takes priority and is never overwritten by this.
- Email-open/click points enabled: reads "Opened Email" and "Clicked Email" events to award points for engaging with your campaigns.
What Clubhouse does not do
- Does NOT add customers to Klaviyo lists (you manage subscriptions as usual)
- Does NOT create segments in Klaviyo
- Does NOT trigger Klaviyo metrics or events
- Does NOT read anything beyond the birthday property and email-open/click events described above, and only if the matching loyalty rule is enabled
Profile matching
Clubhouse matches customers to Klaviyo profiles by email address. If a customer doesn't have a Klaviyo profile yet, Clubhouse creates one. The customer's email from the Shopify order is used for the match.
When does sync happen?
Klaviyo profiles are updated within seconds of each paid Shopify order — that part is real time, triggered by the order webhook. Birthday and email-open/click reads happen once a day via a scheduled job, not in real time.
